Make gun Owners liable for damages, and require them to get liability Insurance much like vehicle owners do.

Gun owners have rights. With rights come responsibility. It only makes sense that if a gun owner causes loss of life and property, he or she be held liable. We should go one step further and hold the owner of the gun responsible for any damage done by his gun while he is the lawful owner of the Gun.This is no different than what car owners do. Same rules should apply to guns. Registrations should not be renewed or new guns sold without proof of liability insurance. The insurance companies will figure out who or what guns pose higher risk and what premiums to charge, while rewarding responsible gun owners. And taxpayers will be compensated for their emergency response cost, and victims for their loss. License, registration and liability insurance - just like cars, that should be the law.
