We petition the federal government to enact laws requiring that all registered owners of firearms be held accountable for any crime committed with their weapon. Under this proposal, any crime committed with a registered weapon would be the equal responsibility of both the person using the weapon as well as the registered owner of that weapon.
Implementing this proposal would create a substantial incentive towards ensuring that adequate gun safety was being implemented in the storage and access granted by owners of weapons to other individuals.
It would not impinge upon the rights of gun owners to bear arms in any way, but would more fully enshrine personal responsibility of gun ownership into the law.
