Make hidden fees transparent to the online buyer.

Created by C.W. on April 08, 2013

We, the people of the United States, are petitioning the White House for additional protection against hidden fees during online purchases. Specifically, we request that all retail websites be required to create a SECOND pop-up screen that clearly states, in large lettering, "Do you wish to be enrolled in automatic renewal, which will charge your credit card $X.XX per month?" (yes/no). Companies such as FreeCreditReport.com, ShutterStock.com, BeachBody, to name a few, automatically enroll you in monthly payments. You have to call to cancel. They make the text very small and hidden so you do not know what you are signing up for. Please help stop this fraudulent behavior by requiring very explicit, clear language prior to automatic renewals and monthly charges.
