Make history: Relieve the burden and pardon 41 million dollars worth of student loan debt for American citizens

Created by N.J. on July 15, 2015

According to the National Center for Education Statistics the average amount owed for each graduating borrower has risen from less than $10,000 in 1993 to more than $30,000 in 2014 (in inflation-adjusted dollars). Although some reform has been done, complete forgiveness of all student loans would bring major relief to middle and lower income families. An education is supposed to help raise our standard of living, not burden it. Very few jobs provide the type of salary that would make it feasible to pay off student loans timely if at all. This petition is a request for The President of the United States to make history by pardoning all student loan debt for American citizens.
