To make homework optional for students across the United States

We beg the United States government to make homework given to students in school an optional assignment, if not ban it. Honestly home work is something that is at many times useless. All across The United States, kids are assigned to and are obligated to go home after a day of 7 hours of learning to a ton of more work in which half the time they do not put any effort into. No study has ever demonstrated any academic benefit to assigning homework before children are in high school. In fact, even in high school, the association between homework and achievement is weak ,and data does not show that homework is responsible for higher achievement. We believe if homework were optional, then students would actually get good use from it and when they decide to do it, they do it to their own benefit
