The electoral college system made sense to be implemented and used back in 1787, but in the modern age there is no necessity for such a system anymore. It is rather embarrassing that a country can elect a leader when 5% of the time the loser wins. It is also embarrassing that this issue has been raised 700 times to the government and not once has it been changed to a more efficient system.
