It is very dangerous to have horse slaughter facilities in the United States. I am very concerned for our food safety. Look what has happened in Europe since the horse meat scandal.
Ground beef prices dropped over 40% & this can & will happen here if slaughter plants are reopened.
Horse meat is not safe to consume & cannot be very well regulated since almost all horses are given cancer causing drugs in their lifetime. There are no safe levels or time frame in which these drugs are out of their systems. We dont consume horsemeat so why in the world would we want to slaughter them here.
