Make the individual mandate in the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) enforceable.

Created by B.I. on January 18, 2013

The foundation of the Affordable Care Act is the individual mandate. Unfortunately, it's been rendered unenforceable by subsection (g) of the mandate by taking away the government's ability to impose any penalties on those who refuse to pay the fine. The purpose of the mandate is to provide a financial incentive for people to buy health insurance. Without it, millions of people will game the system by waiting until they're sick to buy insurance which will send health care costs into a death spiral. This will have dire consequences for health care affordability and for our deficit. We, the undesigned urge you to embrace the universal consensus among health care experts regarding the mandate and ensure that health care reform is sustainable by making the individual mandate enforceable.
