The current system of voting is flawed as it allows for only a Two-party system to exist and completely eliminates new ideologies and viewpoints from entering the government. The current system is also flawed as it allows for a winner takes all scenario. When a candidate is elected to a position they can win with a 52% vote, but I ask you, How is it fair that the 52% get to speak for the other 48%? With instant-runoff voting the candidates chosen to be in government will be far more representative of the opinions and views held by the populace, and would break the complete monopoly that the GOP and Democratic Party hold on the government. For democracy to progress, and for free speech to remain relevant, Instant-Runoff voting is needed for national elections.
