Make Internet Access A Basic Right.

Created by C.B. on January 06, 2013

Whereas: Cable companies are moving towards a metered use system.

Whereas: Such systems force the poor to have extremely limited internet access.

Whereas: Internet access is a necessity for communication, for work and school.

Whereas: Metered use will harm online companies.

Whereas: Internet access is a basic right of citizens in a democratic society as a method of free speech and metered use restricts such freedom.

Therefore: We, the undersigned, do petition the Federal Government to regulate, prohibit cable companies from establishing metered use systems in the United States and declare internet access to be a basic right on the basis of the First Amendment to the US Constitution.
