The Internal Revenue service is capable of finding errors in tax returns and demanding re-filing and additional payments from taxpayers who file incorrect returns. Tax returns have become so complex for many that they depend on commercial tax software to prepare their returns and downloads from financial institutions to fill in much of the data. The IRS already has the data, and the ability to process it. To save the time and money of the everyday taxpayer, and avoid the crime of clerical error, the IRS should just send us all the forms already filled out. Congress can authorize the payment for the additional work, or make taxes simple enough for people to do themselves.
