Make it against the law to ask for a date of birth or graduation year on a job application.

Created by A.S. on April 25, 2014

It should be against the law to ask for a date of birth or graduation date on an application. There are currently laws that do not allow discrimination based upon age. The law makes specific reference to the age of 40. I have found being 39 and turning 40 this year it has been a challenge to find employment. At no point in my working career have I had this much difficulty. A date of birth and graduation date should only be allowed as part of a background check. A background check should only be allowed as part of a conditional offer of employment, not part of the application process.
