Many of the world's smartest students come to the US for their Masters and PhD's. Many stay on for their post-docs, while others gravitate to the dynamic job market However, the process to legally work in these areas requires a cumbersome H1B visa. Within the 6 years, the applicant is forced to go through a more involved Greencard process that can take many more years for approval. This is detrimental to the US economy. Frustrated individuals are returning to their home countries, where opportunities are booming. Sadly, they take back with them years of high-tech experience. There needs to be a facile process where obtaining an MS or a PhD instantly guarantees a Greencard to the student, so as to encourage talent to retain in the country. This should apply retroactively.
