Make it entirely legal for the private citizen to own OPERABLE AND MODERN MILITARY EQUIPMENT.

There is no reason why a law-abiding goverment would fear a law-abiding citizenry who is as well armed as they are. The founding fathers gave us the right to keep and bear arms in order to stave off tyrannical government. How are we to defend the Constitution if we are so unevenly matched? Additionally, there is a reason that nobody messes with Switzerland; all their citizens are armed to the teeth. The United States should follow suit, both by NOT BANNING SO-CALLED "ASSAULT WEAPONS" and by LEGALIZING OWNERSHIP OF FUNCTIONAL MILITARY EQUIPMENT by background-checked, sane, law-abiding citizens. Remember, the government has nothing to fear as long as the have what's truly best for the People in mind.
