IF IT IS DETERMINED that the citizen had no weapon, it is reasonable to conclude that the individual poses no legitimate threat to the life of an armed officer- and especially to a group of officers; and there is no reason whatsoever, the citizen should lose their life. With tasers and nonlethal ammunition, police have all they need to adequately subdue unruly citizens. If a firearm is necessary, police officers are adequately trained to deliver a non-lethal shot to the suspect.
FURTHERMORE, if an unarmed citizen is killed- ‘paid administrative leave’ is unacceptable. These instances should be automatically handled as a homicide, and the officer should immediately be taken into custody, exactly like a citizen would be, if they were to kill an officer. Thank you.
