Many people working in the public sector that are Veterans do not get the day off nor are they compensated for working on a Federal Holiday meant to honor them. Either all Veterans should be given that day off or paid double time for that day of work. It's an outrage that while some people that do not support our military or our Veterans are given the day off so they can attend protests, yet the very people who have served are forced to work on the very day meant to honor them.
