Each year, in the United States several children suffer weather related injuries or die as a result of being left alone and trapped in vehicles during extreme weather conditions. By making it a felony to leave a child or a person(s) with disability alone in vehicles would significantly reduce the number of preventable weather related injuries and deaths.. During the hottest months a closed vehicle can heat up to more than 130 degrees in a matter of minutes it is a fact that victims trapped in cars during such conditions suffer traumatic brain injury or death, in less than an hour. Anyone that leaves a person trapped in a car, should be treated as a criminal and punished as such and be charged with murder should a person lose their life as a result of being trapped in a hot vehicle.
