Many people do not have the time to wait in long lines to vote in national elections because they must work on that day. We have all seen long lines at the polls when a national election occurs. The result is an illegal barrier to every citizen's right to exercise his or her vote.
National elections should be declared national holidays so that all citizens are guaranteed their inalienable right to vote. Furthermore, no person should be compelled to work on that day. Any attempt at coercion of a voter to choose work instead of exercising his/her right to vote should be a felony. All polling places must have an adequate number of poll workers and voting machines based on the number of eligible voters in the voting precinct.
