Imagine arriving at the theater only to be told, "We're sorry, we oversold this performance and we're looking for volunteers to give up their seat in exchange for a $150 theater voucher and a seat at an upcoming performance." Imagine that happening at a World Series game. Or a concert. It would be outrageous, yet it happens at every American airport every single day. And if there are no volunteers, the airline randomly bounces people off the flight, no matter how long ago they booked or how important it is they reach their destination when they had planned. It must stop.
