Make it illegal in ALL fifty states to leave an animal in an unattended and confined vehicle.
As of right now, it is only illegal in fourteen states.
There are no real statistics because many of the cases go unreported.
We are asking to make it illegal, not as punishment, but to warn owners of the real dangers of leaving their animals in unattended vehicles.
Many people believe that because they're away from their vehicle for just a few minutes, that the animal will be okay which is simply not the case. On a 78-degree day, the temperature inside a parked car can soar to between 100 and 120 degrees in just minutes, and on a 90-degree day, the interior temperature can reach as high as 160 degrees in less than 10 minutes.
