make it illegal to allow non-government websites to portray themselves as valid government educational aid websites.

Created by A.P. on February 23, 2014

Every year, thousands of students attend private and public colleges and universities, and many of these students fill out the FAFSA to get federal, state, and institutional aid to help them pay for school. Many of these students end up submitting this information through for-profit websites like FAFSA.com that are made to look like the actual free website, fafsa.ed.gov.

These non-government websites and services have been in operation for years, and we believe that it should be illegal for websites to falsely advertise themselves and ask for payment for what should always be a free service.

College is expensive enough. There should only be one FAFSA website, and the FAFSA should always be free.
