make it illegal for "any" Homeowner's Association to prevent anyone from displaying the American Flag on their property

Created by S.K. on June 28, 2014

In June 2014, a Florida veteran faced foreclosure and monetary fine from the Tides Condominium Homeowner's Association in Sweetwater for displaying a small American Flag in a flower pot on his own front porch. The Association fined him $100 per day. This is one of many examples of excessive abuse of authority exhibited by Homeowners Associations that interfere with our right to display our pride for our own country.

The Freedom to Display the American Flag Act of 2005 is an Act of Congress that prohibits real estate management organizations from restricting homeowners from displaying the flag of the United States on their property. Nevertheless, more needs to be done, given that Homeowner's Associations continue to impede on our First Amendment rights to Freedom of Speech and Expression
