Make it illegal for companies to share or pursue an employee's or potential hire's salary history

Created by A.F. on May 05, 2014

This is important to help mend the wealth gap. In this current economic landscape of job scarcity, employers can use job scarcity to keep wages at or near just what an employee is willing to work for, instead of near the actual value the employee provides for the company. Removing the ability to pursue salary history will remove the datapoint companies have to make a calculated offer just above the potential employee's current wage. This will raise wages to labor because salaries will begin to approach the actual value of a worker's labor, not just the wage they are willing to work for.
