Consumer cellular service providers such as Sprint and T-Mobile have created data plans at reduced costs which would allow unlimited access to a few whitelisted sites but restrict the amount of data used to all other internet sites/services. While the companies are promoting these plans as low cost options for internet access, these plans are anti-consumer as they are designed to exploit customers who in some cases cannot afford the rising cost of forced data plans and prevent them from have open access to the any service that they wish to use. This is also anti-small business as it prevents new startups or any small business from being able to compete in an open and fair market against large businesses/corporations. These plans are unethical and threaten an open web and net neutrality.
