In many states, it is a requirement for those who identify as transgender prove that they have had medical treatment or surgery to reflect their true gender. While, this is a crucial step in transitioning, most do not have the money to just go out and get surgery and in the mean time changing their gender on identification documents is vital part of their life.
This petition is to make it illegal to deny someone's gender marker change based on the fact they haven't had surgery. Certain states DO allow for a transgender individual to change their gender marker but it is my belief that this is a issue that affects our whole country. This affects numerous people not just me.
