Telemarketers are pelting American consumers with calls made by auto-dialers. These calls are often ID'd as "unknown caller". The American consumer should be able to prevent anonymous calls as a right of privacy.
No legitimate business or communication begins with deception. If a marketer or other caller is calling from a legitimate company then they should be willing to share their contact information up-front at risk of being blocked if their repeated calls are truly unwanted. Many of these calls originate from shadowy organizations seeking to prey on consumers and from those who intend to commit deception or fraud. Many Illegal transactions and acts of fraud could be prevented simply by forcing transparency when one party seeks to contact another.
