With the rising amount of unnecessary civilian deaths in the wake of police brutality, where there is clear evidence that there was absolutely no reason for the death to occur, it should be made illegal for an officer of the law to be placed on paid leave when they're being investigated for a crime that they may or may not have committed. Too many officers have gotten away with murder while on-duty, and their punishment was to be put on paid leave from work, while a life was wrongfully taken.
Officers of the law are meant to protect their citizens, but what they are instead doing is using their positions of power to threaten and murder their citizens unjustly. They should not be rewarded with paid leave when under criminal investigation for any reason.
