Some corporations have managed to patent parts of the human genome. We do not believe that something that you are born with (i.e., your own DNA) should be something that can be patented, trademarked, or otherwise treated as property, any more than human beings should be treated as property.
We the people who sign this petition demand that all existing patents on any part of the human genome be immediately invalidated, and that it be made illegal to patent or trademark any part of the human genome in the future.
