Honest and accurate reporting is a tenet of a free press. If a news organization is allowed to print or state deliberate lies, then that tenet is moot. The people do not know who to trust, and, worse, may believe completely false reporting. In a free society, we must depend on an honest, free press to keep the people informed. The people must know the truth.

News organizations and reporters must be required to tell the truth as long as they identify themselves as such.
