Make it illegal to smoke in cars with children in them

As new studies come forward each year, the dangerous effects of secondhand smoke are becoming more well known. Few people are more vulnerable to the ills of secondhand smoke than children. However, many parents and other adult drivers across America still make the conscious choice to smoke in cars with children inside. This forces children to inhale harmful and potentially deadly chemicals. For these reasons, we petition that it be made illegal to smoke in a car with children in it. We believe that this is both an issue of health and of good morals, both of which are degraded as long as our nation allows this to continue without consequence.
