Travel companies steal billions from consumers through fraud annually with the complete co-operation of debit and credit card companies. Although airlines are required to give a FINAL price at time of booking, travel sites such as Priceline and Travelocity state that you have a final price including taxes and fees, but you don't. Once your card number is in their hands, they add everything and anything they can. So a $100 "deal" on a hotel room becomes a $150 or $180 bill. Further, often the room sold is not the room you get. Debit cards are the WORST to use, since the debit card company will NOT refund your money or side with you DESPITE repeatedly stating that your money is 100% safe and protected. This is blatant FRAUD.The Consumer Protection Bureau does NOT help at ALL.
