We petition our elected leaders to ban unpaid overtime for employees. The number of unpaid overtime hours worked each year is staggering. Making it law that employees are paid for all hours they work would not only benefit the individual employee in these tough economic times but the nation as a whole.
Employees would either earn higher take home pay and thus result in increased taxes, or employers would have to hire more employees to do the work and result in a lowered unemployment rate. The current exemptions to paid overtime are grossly inadequate for todays job market.
