The right to file jointly should not be exclusive to married couples. The United States Government should not play a part in who can or wants to wed, nor should it dole out rewards or punishments based on who is married and who isn't. Any couple, married or unmarried, who has successfully lived together for more than six consecutive months in a year should be allowed to file jointly. Tax savings for all couples who stay living together should be increased for every year they continue living together.
