For the past few decades, children and young adults in the US have been exposed to Japanese comics and cartoons, but few know the heinous activities Japan has put the people of Korea and China through in World War II.
Japan never apologizes for its atrocities and still doesn't. It is because people have a good image of Japan through their propaganda in animation and comics.
It is time for Japan to understand the consequences of its actions and stop hiding behind a veil of fantasy to make their country look good. The Obama administration should work with the rating boards concerning comics, animation and games to make it mandatory for localizing companies such as Funimation, Viz Media, YenPress and Dark Horse to accompany their products with a footnote exposing Japanese war atrocities.
