Make it mandatory for nursing schools to offer employment for their graduates in order to offer a nursing program.

Created by J.H. on January 14, 2013

Roughly 43% of new graduate Registered Nurses are unable to find work within 18 months of graduation. The market is flooded with new RNs attending nursing schools that promise stable employment, who are competing with more seasoned RNs who are afraid to retire due to the uncertainty of the current economy as well as the influx of RNs from foreign countries. To make matters worse for new RNs, (who spent years of their life and money on the false prospect of access to this market) hospitals are refusing to hire RNs with less than a year of experience. I propose that we reform the recruitment process of nursing schools so that they MUST make deals with hospitals to offer employment to new graduates in order to keep their program, or MANDATE hospitals to prioritize the hiring of new RNs.
