Nothing Mainland Chinese suffered can be compared to what happened in the last 70 years: civil war; land reform which soon turned into a holocaust; the greatest famine on Earth; the cultural revolution, where educated people were so tortured that many chose to suicide, and ordinary families were so scared that they burnt down anything that had some cultural values -- family treasures, books, arts, musical instruments, temples, monuments, even tombs (!?), ...
More sad is that people don't realize that post-cultural-revolution China changed like an chameleon but deep down it's exactly the same creature.
Please help oversea Chinese get the old one back, called "Republic of China". I believe if people are free to choose, they will choose to be citizens of Republic of China.
