Make the Jewish holiday of Yom Kippur a federally recognized holiday.

Created by B.R. on December 22, 2012

It seems highly inappropriate that while Christians receive a federal holiday for the celebration of Christmas and Christmas Eve, American Jews do not get a similar privilege. This is despite the large percentage of American Jews who observe the most sacred Jewish holiday of Yom Kippur. In fact, the Congress adjourns for Yom Kippur, the NYSE exchange is closed, and even some school systems are closed. Yet federal employees and contractors do not receive a similar privilege.
