June 26th is an important day for the Supreme Court and civil rights.
1978: Regents of the University of California v. Bakke upheld affirmative action.
2003: Lawrence v. Texas found sodomy laws unconstitutional.
2013: The court struck down the Defense of Marriage Act in United States v. Windsor
2015: Same sex marriage (hereby known as marriage) declared legal in Obergefell v. Hodges
We as a country should celebrate these landmark achievements, and provide a rallying point for all the achievements in equality yet to come. Let's make 26th a national federal holiday.
