In the wake of what has happened in Charleston, S.C I see it best fit that June 19th, Juneteenth is made a national holiday in remembrance of all the black people subjected to slavery in America. The importance of this holiday will teach future generations the importance of being culturally competent and aware of the horrible history in America and why we must resolve to never allow the mass killing of black people by racist to never happen again. Black people have suffered tremendous losses at the hands of white people intent on hurting us. Knowing our history and the perseverance of our spirit for freedom and justice should be recognized across this country.
