A rapist on average will only spend 2-5 years in jail if that, while a murderer and child rapist will get a life sentence. Just because a woman is over 18, doesn’t mean the rape is somehow less psychologically and physiologically traumatic. The psychological trauma a woman goes through from a rape and the trauma she has to cope with her entire life thereafter is insurmountable. Also, with such an easy sentence, the rapist doesn’t think twice about committing this heinous crime and statistically commits it again once he’s out. The level of rape is typically determined by if the man had a weapon of some sort, or used his bare hands. A man will always have more strength than a woman, so it doesn’t really matter if he had a weapon or not. This law would cut down on a lot of rapes.
