We the people, petition the Congress of these United States to lower the drinking age of the United States to 18 years of age. By restricting the legal drinking age, minors are actually more likely to want to drink due to the fact that they can't. In fact, citizens in the U.S. are considered adults at 18, and as such can serve in the army and vote. Why should someone who can ensure the welfare and longevity of our nation be denied the right to drink, a matter of trivial importance in comparison to the rights they already possess? Besides these reasons, the tax revenue that stands to be gained by making the drinking age 18 is direly needed considering our national governments dire financial straits. These are just a few of the many reasons why the drinking age should be changed to 18.
