We the people ask the federal government to Take or explain a position on an issue or policy:

Make the LGBT+ community a federally protected class of citizens to stop the States assault on LGBT+ rights.

Created by R.M. on June 13, 2016

The LGBT+ community is a marginalized minority that is discriminated against and abused physically and emotionally by many peoples in this nation. The LGBT+ community needs federally protected status to make these assaults punishable by federal, criminal charges.
LGBT+ individuals are killed in nightclubs, told they cannot use restrooms and are having rights restrictions imposed upon them by their home states in a current of hatred and intolerance that is always growing. These individuals need to have some recourse at the Federal level to have hate crimes, intolerance-based lawmaking and anti-LGBT+ rhetoric published at all levels of media answered with criminal hate crime charges.
