4 in 10 LGBT youth say they don't live in a community that is LGBT friendly.
It is our job to make sure these youth know they have a place they belong.
With making LGBT/GSA clubs mandatory for all high schools to offer their students, they will feel safer and know they have a place to belong in their community and that other people are there to support them.
In my own experience, I had to start up my own LGBT/GSA club in my high school and it was complicated to find a teacher to overlook the club while it was in session and in general just to get it started. This club doesn't need to be funded, so it couldn't harm a school's budget if they don't put funds towards it, the members could handle it if they have to.
