Unfortunately, many schools do not include LGBT history and/or historical figures in their curriculum, materials, and textbooks. Many schools also forbid pupils from expressing their views on issues related to sexualities and alternate lifestyles.
Children need to be exposed to all different milestones and figures in their educational lifetimes, and that should include influential figures such as Harvey Milk and events such as the murder of Matthew Shepard.
We need open minded and opinionated children who are exposed to all different people, events, and lifestyles.
