During a tornado children, while at most school, are required to kneel and cover their head with there hands within a hallway or sometimes a gym. This is safest plan for most children in the United States because adequate shelter is not provided such as an underground or above ground tornado shelter. When a tornado warning is issued by the national weather service, tornado procedures are put into place and students are not allowed to leave until the tornado warning is over. Without a proper shelter during a tornado rated an F3 or larger our children are sitting ducks. Only attention from our leaders within the local and federal principalities will we be able to protect our children from the threat of tornadoes while at school.
