As recent events have brought to light, computer viruses are not the only forms of software that are potentially malicious to the security and privacy of our citizens.
As things in this industry move quickly, increased measures taken by companies who develop operating systems, software and antiviruses to prevent such intrusions are constantly subverted and dodged. The attacks on operating systems of all types are rapidly increasing in sophistication. And they need to be stopped. But doing it at the moment is legally complex.
The government can decide which adware can be classified as malware, how advertising software should be allowed to present itself to users upon install, and that they should be easy to remove.
