Fred Rogers, deceased in 2003, served the American public for decades through his television program, Mister Rogers' Neighborhood on PBS.
He inspired feelings of individuality, self-esteem, and love. He reminded us to think of all the people who loved us and supported us throughout our lives. He treated everyone with respect, and taught everyone that as humans, we deserved nothing less.
Mister Rogers was a friend and neighbor to us all, but not only that- he was a treasure to the North American public. A day celebrating the life of Mister Rogers will remind us of the dedication he had to educating and supporting each young generation, and inspire us to do the same. Mister Rogers may have been a once in a lifetime individual, but nothing should hold us back from living up to his example.
