March 25 commemorates the anniversary of the 1911 Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire that killed a reported 146 people, mostly immigrant women and children workers. This date should be a day to remember those victims, as well as to appreciate and have a conversation on the work that Americans and immigrants have made over the course of American history to make this country what it is today. It would help our entire American society in getting citizens to have a meaningful, thoughtful conversation about the importance of worker's rights, immigrant's rights, women's rights, women labor and child labor in America and around the world. Lastly, this day would provide the youth a chance to talk with their families about their immigrant ancestors and why they came to the United States.
