Make marriage licenses nationwide

Created by A.D. on October 04, 2015

Marriage licenses are only good for the county they are issued in. If you want to get married out of state, you must get a marriage license in the county in the state you want to marry in. Some counties have a waiting period before the marriage license is valid, so you must leave days in advance to obtain the marriage license. I think marriage licenses from your county of residence should be able to be used nationwide. Some counties allow for online applications prior to appearing in person at the court, but some counties you must apply in person. When planning for my wedding scheduled on a Monday we would have had to arrive the Friday before that, since courts are not open on the weekend, adding 3 additional days in hotels, eating out, and off work.
