Make Martin Luther King Day a MANDATORY national holiday!

Created by J.D. on February 18, 2014

We celebrate Independence Day every 4th of July to commemorate America's freedom from tyranny. However, when it comes to the man who has done more to free America from her internal bondages (inequality, institutionalized racism, and underrepresentation), Dr. Martin Luther King; his is an elective holiday! Dr. King has done more to shape modern American society than any other individual, since George Washington. Given that it's because of Dr. King that America is an integrated, multi cultural melting pot, and that without Dr. King, there would probably be no President Barack Obama, should MLK Day be business as usual? Or, should it be a mandatory holiday, so that all Americans can sit back, reflect on and commemorate the freedoms that we corporately share? I say it should be mandatory!
